If you're looking
for a film that will have you laughing from start to finish, look no further
because Identity Thief does that and much more.
The story revolves
around a loving family including Dad Sandy (Jason Bateman) Mum Trish (Amanda
Peet) and their two daughters living in the suburbs.
Big, bold and busty
Diana (Melisa McCarthy) bursts on to the scene and shakes the foundations of
this happy family. Sandy has to travel across America to sort out Diana in
order to save his job, reputation and family's wellbeing.
Also looking for
Diana is a number of bounty hunters. Can Sandy find her in time and stop his
world from being turned upside down?
Actor Review
Melissa McCarthy (Diana) may very well be a one trick pony, but the one trick she does is a good one. She had the audience crying with laughter and also manages to tug on the heart strings a number of times throughout the film. She was one awesome leading lady.

Jason Bateman
(Sandy) basically does what he usually does in all his other films and
television work. He sort of acts and is sort of funny but fails to do either
very well. He was entertaining but I feel someone else could have done a better
job and brought a little bit more life to the character.
Eric Stonestreet
(Big Chuck) may only be a supporting character but man he makes an impact in
the saucy scene with Diana and Sandy in a hotel room, look out for that one.
Best Bits
Without a doubt the fight scene between Diana and Sandy was one of, if not the best highlight of this film.

Sandy whacking
Diana over the head with a guitar and Diana punching Sandy in the throat made
tears stream down my face with laugher.
Another scene which
was funny involved a hotel room, Diana, Sandy and Big Chuck, lots of alcohol is
involved with some dodgy sexual positions. All that combined equals one massive
laugh.

Conclusion
This film delivers even though it is a comedy; Identity Thief is far from predictable and gives the audience a few surprises along the way. I left the cinema with jaw ache as I laughed that much throughout the film.

The drama elements
are incredibly touching and shed light on the important issues such as children
growing up in care, loneliness and what it can do to a person.
The cast had good
chemistry specifically Diana and Sandy, it ensured they had a convincing
transition from sworn enemies to best friends from the films beginning to the
end.
Rating
Identity Thief broke the mould of the typical action comedy. It swayed away from all the stereotypes of its genre and brought to the table a solid film with loads of laughs, amazing action scenes and a few tear jerking moments too. (7/10)
